Beginning the Prep work
Greetings!
I hope everyone has arrived in the New Year happy and healthy!
This is the time of the year I start working on solid plans for starting the establishment of a new garden. Although, obviously and honestly plans are always evolving and plans for this garden just continue to grow, but it's now time for me to take a step forward with it.
In my last post we discussed very broadly working to create a plan for your vision, and starting to put that down on paper - or computer, hey....we all work and create in different ways, and organize our thoughts uniquely. The concept is the same.
My project to get started for this coming year is a small raised vegetable garden in the corner of my backyard. So, pretty generic, great for a first-timer or someone getting back into gardening after a hiatus. Simple is pretty sweet.
I have:
* measured out the area that I want to use
* observed shade/sun considerations from existing plants, etc. This will need to be followed out as seasons change.
* been sidetracked by some houseplants - buying, propogating, obsessing about their light and water needs LOL... researching some on hydroponics.... and down a rabbit hole I went, and remain...
* back on track now, time to get serious.
It's time to create a list of things I need to buy to physically build the raised beds and the materials that will be used to build out the soil. If I were planting directly into the ground, I would get my soil tested and make amendments to that soil as recommended.
Next month lets discuss how that's going, and how that soil was constructed.
