Beginning the Prep work

Greetings! I hope everyone has arrived in the New Year happy and healthy!  This is the time of the year I start working on solid plans for starting the establishment of a new garden. Although, obviously and honestly plans are always evolving and plans for this garden just continue to grow, but it's now time for me to take a step forward with it. In my last post we discussed very broadly working to create a plan for your vision, and starting to put that down on paper - or computer, hey....we all work and create in different ways, and organize our thoughts uniquely. The concept is the same.  My project to get started for this coming year is a small raised vegetable garden in the corner of my backyard. So, pretty generic, great for a first-timer or someone getting back into gardening after a hiatus. Simple is pretty sweet.  I have: * measured out the area that I want to use * observed shade/sun considerations from existing plants, etc. This will need to be followed out...

Your Vision - Getting Started

Think ab...

Hellooooooooo!! (think Mrs Doubtfire)

Hello!!!! My name is Catherine and I hail from the Great Green state of South Carolina, where I consider myself an extreme amateur Master Gardener.   I recently took and passed the Master Gardener program/exam through the Clemson University Extension Service and I get to help with educating others now! I am super excited to bring topics to the forefront that help others learn more about how to take care of our little (and big) plant friends! My main goal is to take any topic and simplify it for the average gardener (here I am! Raising my hand!).  I have a small army of houseplants I take care of, propagate and attempt to keep alive, and am working on creating some gardens on my property I will walk through on this blog.   For my next post I want to focus on "The Vision".  You, as a gardener, have an idea of what you want to do - whether it's a small veggie patch, a large orchard, a few containers on the balcony, and even bringing it inside - growing a windo...
